about

Her tears fell down from the cloudy top of the castle keep. There she, a nearly transparent silhouette, stood in silence and observed how desolate the beautiful nature that previously surrounded her had become.

She was the castle's pale beauty, its solemn existence. Her cold eyes were as deep as an endless void, a paragon of hopelessness—an old minimally decorated white kimono clad her ghastly skin.

Whether she genuinely was living or just lingering on a fragment of her memory, refusing to separate from her castle, is not known. Still, for others to have spoken of her solitude would have been foolish, as the moon had always watched over her...

The initial spark for the album was ignited by a story I came across during the summer, "Tenshu Monogatari", and many of the songs and their themes draw inspiration from it in some respect. The album's name references a common English title for "Ugetsu Monogatari", an Edo period collection of several stories.

「Songs of Moonlight and Rain」 was composed by Ayakashi during midsummer, the summer's end, and amongst the autumn winds of 2022.
